The first couple of months of your baby's life you won't need a ton of clothes, but newborns are basically messy little beings so having multiples of some key items is a great idea.
Bodysuits
Infant bodysuits or "onesies" are indepensible during the first several weeks of your baby's life. They are an easy way to provide warmth for your baby as well as layer on other clothing for additonal layering in cold weather. Baby Sleepwear
Your newborn will sleep a lot and comfy sleepware is a must. Buntings that fit like a gown but close at the bottom are a good choice, simple two piece outfits or for extra warmth in the winter, a babysack - a simple sleeper that zips or snaps all the way up the neck makes many babies feel warm and safe. 7-10 sleepers (diapers leak and babies spit up) will be more than adequate.
Day Clothes
Making gettiing dressed quick and simple is a must for having a new baby. You will have a lot of choices, organic cotton and bamboo (yes bamboo) clothing is gaining popularity due to the low incidence of allergens and softness for baby's skin. Add a sweater or jacket and you're ready for fall or winter weather.7-10 pants and shirt sets are recommended.
Footwear
Keeping those precious piggies covered is another priority. Some babies love wearing socks and soft crib shoes such as Robeez. Others are firmly committed to being completely barefoot no matter how cold their feet feel. Keep trying, eventually your baby will come around and it's important to keep those piggies covered when it's cold. 7 pairs of socks and 1 pair of shoes, as babies grow so fast you'll barely have time to use the shoes you bought before you'll need another pair.
Hats or Caps
Head covering is essential to help your baby maintain her body temperature no matter if she was born in the dead of winter or on a summer day. A soft and comfy cap will help baby sleep and for going out you can go stylish with a hat with a brim or even just a beanie pull-over type of headcover.Just think in terms of keeping sun off your baby in the warmer months and keeping her warm in the colder ones when you're choosing a hat. 1-2 are all you'll need for the first several weeks.
