Benefits of Organic Food

Healthy food is no longer that difficult to look for as organic food is already out in supermarkets everywhere. The differences between organic food and non-organic food are not superficial but go way deeper. It is true that organic food is not easily cognizable among the other non-organic foods. This is the probably the reason why capitalists will always assert that there is no difference between organic and non-organic foods. In truth, however, organic foods are healthier to consume and more delicious and nutritious.

The number one rule in feeding your baby is that you must only feed him or her food that is organic. You may ask “Why organic?” Here are the answers.

Organic Foods are More Nutritious

Compared to non-organic foods, organic foods contain more minerals and vitamins. The USDA has compiled significant information showing that the since the 1940s, the nutrients people get from conventional food such as vegetables, fruits, meats, dairy products and others have drastically declined. It means that compared to now, people in the past have enjoyed more nutrient value in the same food that we eat today.

Studies that lean on the organic side conclude that organic crops contain more amounts of vitamin C, other minerals and antioxidant phytonutrients.

There are also studies that have yielded results proving that organic foods contain 10-50% more phytonutrients than foods that are conventionally produced.

In an unpublished 4-year study by the European Union, which was finished in 2007, it was found that organic fruits and vegetables have 40% more antioxidants that its non-organic equivalent. More drastic is the difference between organic and non-organic milk which is 90%.

Because there are lesser nutrients in non-organic food, the problem could be that your baby may not get the proper daily allowances of vitamins, minerals and nutrients that he or she may get from food. To prevent malnourishment of your baby, it is then a must for you to feed him or her only organic food. With organic food, your are assured that your baby will eat food in its most natural state with all the nutrients to support his or her growth, development of his body systems especially the immune system, brain activity and psychomotor skills.

Organic Foods are Tastier and More Delicious

Although organic and non-organic food may look the same, their difference can also be recognized based on the taste test. In a study conducted by the Washington State University in 2001, it was found out that organic apples as are sweeter compared to the conventionally-grown apples.

As to baby foods, there is not much study on the difference in taste between organic and non-organic ones. However, you can surmise that organic food is tastier because they are grown in healthier soil and not exposed to chemicals.

Organic Foods Have Lower Pesticide Residue

It is admitted that organic foods are not totally pesticide-free. However, if compared to non-organic food, the levels of pesticide residues in organic foods are way lower. In conventionally-produced foods are found different kinds of pesticides. Although non-organic producers may claim that the level of these pesticides are within “safe” levels and” not harmful” to human, by common sense alone, you know that it is a falsity. What is more dangerous is that the combination of these pesticides in a non-organic product could lead to possibly greater harmful effects. Research on that aspect is currently being undergone.

As a parent, you do not want your baby to be harmed in any way. Omit pesticides then from your baby’s diet by only introducing to him organic food.
